Soon-to-be university drop out Jessika Cesilia Perez worked multiple hospitality, service, and manufacturing positions the summer of 2015 to pay for her high cost dream education. The path to dropping out of the University of British Columbia was paved with disrupting an established “easy” job culture with ambition.

The pattern would follow in every entry level position. Age, appearance, education (or lack of it), language skills, experience, criminal background, and perceived persona dependent on the coworker have shown that workers of all skills and levels are unhappy with their own position, roles, and systemic payouts.

We are crabs in a bucket who would rather pull each other down than see each other succeed.

Our stories deserve to be told. Unless there is progress, we will hear the same sad ones repeated.
